Sheet weight, coil weight per metre, or coil weight and length from the inside and outside diameter, with the density of 1.4509 (7.7 kg/dm³). The result goes straight into your enquiry.

–

Use this in your enquiry

Nominal weights are calculated from nominal dimensions using a density of 7.7 kg/dm³ (EN 10088-1, 1.4509). The calculator applies the dimensional and unit conversions for sheet weight, coil weight and estimated strip length. These results are estimates, not measured lot weights. The invoice weight follows the certificate or the weighed lot.

441 at a glance

EN 1.4509 (X2CrTiNb18, AISI 441) is a ferritic stainless steel with about 18 % chromium, stabilised with titanium and niobium. Selection for welded parts or elevated-temperature service must take account of the fabrication procedure, service conditions and project specification. Price and availability are confirmed in our quotation.

Frequently asked questions

What is 1.4509 / 441 stainless steel?

A ferritic stainless steel with about 18 % chromium, stabilised with titanium and niobium (EN 1.4509, X2CrTiNb18, AISI 441). Suitability for welding and elevated-temperature service must be checked against the fabrication procedure, service conditions and project specification.

What is the difference between 441 (1.4509) and 430 (1.4016)?

441 is stabilised with titanium and niobium, unlike 430. Selection for welded parts or elevated-temperature service must consider the fabrication procedure, service conditions and project requirements.

Can 441 replace 304 to save cost?

Not as an automatic substitute. A proposed replacement of 304 must be checked against the required corrosion resistance, service conditions, fabrication requirements and project specification, and approved before ordering. Price and availability are confirmed in the quotation.

Is 441 magnetic?

Ferritic 1.4509 is generally magnetic. Austenitic 304 usually has a low magnetic response in the annealed condition, but processing, especially cold working, can change that response. If magnetic behaviour matters to your application, specify the required limits and confirm them for the proposed material and intended processing.

Which forms and sizes do you supply?

Cold-rolled coils, slit coils and sheets from 0.4 to 3.0 mm, in 2B, 2D and BA finishes, coils up to 1,500 mm wide. Coils can be slit to your widths and sheets cut to your lengths. Exact sizes, quality and certificates are confirmed in your quotation.

Do you have excess or second-choice 441?

Excess and second-choice 441 coils come up regularly. Size, quality, origin and certificate are stated per lot in our offer; ask for the current list.

How do I calculate the weight of a 441 sheet or coil?

Sheet weight in kg = thickness × width × length in mm × 7.7 ÷ 1,000,000: a sheet of 1.0 × 1250 × 2500 mm weighs about 24.1 kg. Coil weight in kg = π/4 × (OD² − ID²) × width × 7.7 ÷ 1,000,000: a 1250 mm wide coil with ID 508 and OD 1200 mm weighs about 8.9 t. The calculator on this page does it for you.

Which documents do you provide?

EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificates, confirmed per lot in our quotation.
