Use this in your enquiry

Nominal weights from nominal sizes and the typical density of the grade at 20 °C: flat, strip or sheet = width × thickness, round = 0.7854 × d², square = a², hexagon = 0.866 × s² (s across flats), tube = 3.1416 × (D − t) × t. Corner radii are ignored. Actual weights vary within the tolerances of the product standard.

Frequently asked questions

Which copper and brass products can you supply?

Brass, bronze and copper strip, bare or hot-dip tinned, copper foil, copper sheet and plate, busbars and bars, and brass bars and tubes. Grades range from Cu-ETP, Cu-OF and Cu-DHP copper to CuZn30, CuZn37 and CuZn39Pb3 brass and CuSn6 bronze. Strip is made to order; sheet, plate, bars and tubes come in standard sizes, cut to size or length on request.

Do you supply tinned strip?

Yes. Hot-dip tinned CuZn30 brass strip from 0.10 mm thick, with the tin layer to your specification, for example 1–3 µm pure tin. Copper and bronze strip can also be tinned on request; tell us the base alloy, the temper and the tin layer.

What is the difference between Cu-ETP, Cu-OF and Cu-DHP?

Cu-ETP (CW004A) is widely used for electrical conductors and busbars. It contains oxygen, so it is not suited to welding or brazing in a hydrogen atmosphere. Cu-OF (CW008A) is oxygen-free and keeps its conductivity; use it where parts are welded or brazed. Cu-DHP (CW024A) is phosphorus-deoxidised: lower conductivity, but very good for welding, brazing and forming, for tubes, heat exchangers and roofing.

Which brass should I choose?

CuZn30 and CuZn33 for strip that is stamped, bent or deep drawn, such as connectors and terminals. CuZn37 for sheet and cold-formed parts. CuZn39Pb3 is the free-cutting brass for turned parts on automatic lathes; CuZn40Pb2 suits hot stampings and machining.

What quantities and sizes are realistic?

Made-to-order sizes typically start from minimum production quantities per size. Send your exact thickness, width, temper, coating and annual volume and we confirm feasibility, price and lead time per enquiry. Standard sizes of sheet, plate and bar can be quoted in smaller quantities, cut to size or to length.

How do I calculate the weight of copper or brass?

Kg per metre = cross-section in mm² × density in kg/dm³ ÷ 1,000. Copper weighs about 8.9 kg/dm³, brass about 8.4 to 8.5 kg/dm³. A flat bar of 50 × 10 mm in Cu-ETP (8.93) weighs about 4.47 kg/m; a strip of 0.5 × 20 mm in CuZn30 (8.53) about 0.085 kg/m, or 11.7 m per kg. The calculator on this page does it for you.

Why do copper and brass prices change so often?

The price of copper and brass products follows the metal market. It is made up of the metal value, which moves with the copper price, and the charge for rolling, drawing or cutting. That is why quotations for copper products have a short validity.

Which documents do you provide?

EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificates, confirmed per lot in our quotation, with the mechanical properties and, for tinned strip, the tin layer as agreed per order.

Can copper and brass be combined with stainless steel or aluminium in one delivery?

Yes. Copper and brass can be combined with stainless steel and aluminium in one shipment with one set of documents, collected FCA Beveren (Port of Antwerp) or delivered.
