How to get a price

A bar and profile quotation in three steps

Bars and profiles on one quotation with your sheet, plate or tube, with the documents your project needs.

Send us

  • The shape and the standard, for example ground round bar to EN 10278 h9 or equal angle to EN 10056, or your drawing
  • Grade, size (diameter, side, across flats, or width × thickness), tolerance and surface
  • Length (random lengths or cut to length), quantity in pieces, metres or kilograms, the delivery place and date, and the certificates you need

Good to know

  • From stock or from productionStandard sizes from stock or from production; special sizes and profiles are made to order. We confirm availability and the date in our offer.
  • CertificatesEN 10204 3.1, confirmed per lot in our quotation. For 3.2 inspection or extra tests, name the inspection body and the tests before we quote; they are priced as a separate line.

Grades for bars and profiles

Austenitic, ferritic, martensitic, precipitation-hardening and duplex grades. Tell us the grade and the standard your drawing calls for; the stainless steel grades chart lists EN and AISI names and compositions.

Frequently asked questions

Which stainless steel bars and profiles can you supply?

Round bars (cold drawn, ground, hot-rolled or peeled), flat, square and hexagon bars, equal angles, U-channels, T-sections and I-beams, and special profiles to drawing, in austenitic, ferritic, martensitic and duplex grades. Tell us the shape, size and grade, and we quote from stock or from production.

Can you supply ground bars to tight tolerance?

Yes. Bright round bars are supplied cold drawn or centreless ground to EN 10278 tolerance h9, with h8 or h6 on request, from Ø 2 to 100 mm.

What lengths do you supply?

Bright bars usually come in lengths of about 3 m, some sizes in 6 m. Hot-rolled bars and profiles come in random lengths of about 4 to 6 m. Bars can be cut to fixed lengths on request.

How do I calculate the weight of a stainless steel bar?

Kg per metre = cross-section in mm² × density in kg/dm³ ÷ 1,000. The cross-section is 0.7854 × d² for a round bar, a² for a square bar, 0.866 × s² for a hexagon bar (s across flats) and width × thickness for a flat bar. A Ø 25 mm bar in 316L (8.0) weighs about 3.93 kg/m. The calculator on this page does it for you.

Which grade should I use for machined parts?

1.4305 (303) machines best but resists corrosion less. 1.4404 (316L) and 1.4301 (304) are the usual choice where corrosion matters. Where the part must be hardened, martensitic 1.4021 or 1.4057, or 17-4 PH (1.4542).

Can bars be combined with sheets, coils or tubes in one delivery?

Yes. Bars and profiles can be combined with coils, sheets, plates and tubes in one shipment with one set of documents, collected FCA Beveren (Port of Antwerp) or delivered.

What certificates do you provide?

EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificates; the certificate for each lot is stated in our quotation. 3.2 through an independent inspector is available on request.
